NON-STORY POST: Talk Like A Pirate Day

Hello fellow Buccaneers!.

This is another of those annoying non-story posts - but an important one. Tomorrow (Friday 19th September) is International Talk Like a Pirate Day. To celebrate we will be organising an online party through the Facebook group - see here to join, if you are not already a loyal fan, for more details. Be warned ... you may be required to pull out your best pirate attire to participate! You can participate in the discussion boards that appear to have sprung up in the last couple of days on the group!

We will also be donating 10c per comment posted here on the 19th September. As Captain Juan fans are spread across the globe we will be liberal in our application of the time and date zones ... as long as you're posting on Friday 19th September wherever you are - we will honour your comment.

To qualify for a donation on your behalf you must:

  1. leave a comment on any post on Captain Juan - http://www.captainjuan.com (not the facebook group!)

  2. your comment must be more than two sentences long - c'mon, we want you to work for your donation!

  3. leave an alias/your initials, and your country of origin.

If we can tick your comment on all three of those conditions, consider 10c donated to International PEN on your behalf! Who are International PEN?

"Originally founded in 1921 to promote literature, today International PEN has 145 Centres in 104 countries across the globe. It recognises that literature is essential to understanding and engaging with other worlds; if you can't hear the voice of another culture how can you understand it?

Our primary goal is to engage with, and empower, societies and communities across cultures and languages, through reading and writing. We believe that writers can play a crucial role in changing and developing civil society. We do this through the promotion of literature, international campaigning on issues such as translation and freedom of expression and improving access to literature at international, regional and national levels.

Our membership is open to all published writers who subscribe to the PEN Charter regardless of nationality, language, race, colour or religion. International PEN is a non-political organisation and has special consultative status at UNESCO and the United Nations."

And tell your friends, family and work colleagues - encourage them to come and read, comment and pass on the Captain love. For those who are new here you can find the story to date here and then feel free to catch up on the latest four posts.

Thanks for your support over the past few months ... this has been an adventure that Annie, Paul and Jodi certainly never intended to be on, but we're having as much fun as you are.
